Longwood Wins Buck Leslie Invitational

Freshman Michael Young (R) Finishes 2nd At Washington & Lee With 68-72--140

LEXINGTON, Va. – Longwood University fired rounds of 286 and 295 Monday in men’s golf for a 36-hole total of 581 to finish first among seven teams at the Buck Leslie Invitational hosted by Washington & Lee University in Lexington. The Lancers won by three strokes over runners-up W&L (584) at the 6,416-yard, par 71 Lexington Golf & Country Club. The Lancers will play again this weekend, April 18-19, at the Mount St. Mary’s Invitational, a 54-hole tournament to be played in Littlestown, Pennsylvania.

Longwood was led by freshman Michael Young/Oakville, Ontario (Oakville Trafalgar) with his 68-72--140 to finish as runner-up individually among the field of 50 collegiate golfers. Young was followed by sophomore Adam Webb/Ridgeway (Magna Vista) (70-74--144, 3rd), junior Scooter Buhrman/Fayetteville, N.C. (Jack Britt) (74-73--147, 6th), senior Brett Chambers/Mount Sydney (Fort Defiance) (74-77--151, t-9th), along with freshman Jed Rasnick/Roanoke (Lord Botetourt) (76-76--152, t-13th). Also playing for the Lancers were senior John Rosenstock/Midlothian (Midlothian) (83-71--154, 15th) and junior Allain Blanchard/Williamsburg (Jamestown) (87-78--165, t-24th).
