BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Longwood University posted a round of 300 Tuesday in men’s golf for a 36-hole total of 602 to finish seventh among 14 teams at the Lonnie D. Small Spring Classic hosted by Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina. Host Campbell won its own event with 294-289--583 at the 6,703-yard, par 72 Keith Hill Country Club. The Lancers will play again March 10-11 at the Long Island Invitational to be played in Georgia.
Longwood was led by freshman Michael Young/Oakville, Ontario (Oakville Trafalgar) with his 76-73--149 to place in a tie for 23rd among 78 collegiate golfers. Young was followed by junior Scooter Buhrman/Fayetteville, N.C. (Jack Britt) (77-74--151, t-32) and sophomore Adam Webb/Ridgeway (Magna Vista) (78-73--151, t-32), senior Brett Chambers/Mount Sydney (Fort Defiance) (74-80--154, t-46), and freshman Jed Rasnick/Roanoke (Lord Botetourt) (75-85--160, t-67).
