FARMVILLE, Va.-- Longwood University recognized 97 outstanding student-athletes at its annual Athletics-Academics Awards Banquet March 24 in the Lee Grand Room of the Dorrill Dining Hall. The yearly dinner and awards ceremony honors those student-athletes who have earned a 3.0 or higher GPA for two consecutive semesters, or are freshmen and/or transfers who earned a 3.0 or higher GPA during the recent fall semester. Additionally, 34 faculty and staff members of the University were recognized for their support, understanding, and guidance with these honored student-athletes.
The featured speaker for this year's banquet was Dr. Deneese Jones, Dean of the College of Education and Human Services at Longwood University.
