ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Longwood University women's lacrosse fell to Navy on Saturday afternoon in Annapolis, Md. by the final score 21-10. The Lancers fell to 0-3 on the season, while Navy picked up its first win of the season as well as its first as a Division I program. Longwood returns to action on March 2 as they host Long Island at 1 p.m. at the Athletics Complex.
The Lancers trailed Navy early, falling behind 4-0 with 25:17 remaining in the first half, but would bounce back just moments later getting goals from Liz Sellmyer/Catonsville, Md. (Mount de Sales) and Dee Warehime/Westminster, Md. (Westminster), cutting the deficit to two.
Longwood would pull within five goals of Navy (13-8) as the two teams headed into the locker room, courtesy of another goal from Warehime and five goals from five different players.
Unfortunately for the Lancers, Navy would come out of the half strong, only allowing them to score two goals in the second half. Warehime would go on to score her third goal of the game to lead Longwood's offensive charge.
