Men's Soccer Drops 2-0 To Presbyterian In Adidas/Gamecock Classic

Chernor Diallo Tallied Two Shots In The Loss

COLUMBIA, S.C.-- Longwood University men’s soccer dropped a disappointing 2-0 decision to Presbyterian College on Sunday afternoon in the adidas/Gamecock Classic hosted by South Carolina. The loss puts the Lancers at 2-3 on the year, while the Blue Hose improves to 1-6 on the year. Longwood will return to action on Wednesday, September 19, when it travels to Lynchburg to take on Liberty in a 4 p.m. match-up.
Presbyterian opened up the scoring just eight minutes before halftime, as Kyle Neely put a pass from Brandon Tucker past Longwood’s keeper Brandt Youmans/Gaithersburg, Md. (Damascus) for the 1-0 lead heading into the break. The Blue Hose controlled the majority of play as they out shot Longwood 8-2 in the opening half.
PC poured on the pressure in the second half and tallied its second goal of the game just three minutes into the half. The Blue Hose caught the Lancers in a quick transition and Tucker finished the play with a shot that ended in the back of the net for the 2-0 lead.
Youmans finished the game with three saves in 90:00 of action while Mark Owens tallied five saves in the win. For the game Presbyterian had a 10-8 margin in shots and while Longwood tallied nine corner kicks and the Blue Hose tallied four. Chernor Diallo/Alexandria (Mount Vernon) and Max Groesbeck/Bethesda, Md. (Walt Whitman) led the Lancers with two shots on goal.
