BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- Longwood University finished second among four teams at the Campbell University Women’s Cross Country Invitational this past Saturday in the Buies Creek, North Carolina. The Lancers (2-1) defeated UNC Greensboro 21-38, and UNC Wilmington 22-35 while falling to host Campbell 24-33 in the dual-meet-scored race as the Camels (3-0) won their own event, led by Baille Locke who won the 4K women’s race in 14:59. Longwood will compete again on Saturday, September 15, hosting their own Longwood Invitational at the Longwood Golf Club in Farmville beginning at 11 a.m..

Longwood was led by sophomore Jacquelyne Chantry/Williamsburg (Lafayette) with her time of 15:31 to finish second among 32 runners. Chantry was followed by freshman Natalie Auble/Fairfax (Fairfax) (15:53, 6th), sophomores Kate Knupp/Edinburg (Central) (16:04, 8th), Elizabeth Owens/Disputanta (Prince George) (16:31, 14th), and Priscilla Sherwood/Newport News (Woodside) (16:33, 16th).

Also running for the Lancers were sophomore Laura Bland/Las Vegas, Nev. (Palo Verde) (16:50, 18th), freshman Lauren Kuhns/Fredericksburg (Riverbend) (17:11, 21st), sophomore Melinda Lackore/Virginia Beach (First Colonial) (17:52, 28th), along with freshman Brittany Long/Mechanicsville (Lee-Davis) (18:27, 30th).

The Longwood Invitational on Sept. 15 at the golf course located on Johnston Drive will be the first-ever home cross country competition hosted by the Lancers.
