Slagle hit single through the right side of the infield and was moved by Amy Betterton’s/Rocky Mount (Franklin County) single to put runners at first and second with one out. Bonner hit a fly ball to deep left field that dropped just before the fence bringing Slagle in and giving the Lancers a two run cushion.

The Lancers came storming back in the bottom half the inning, as Katelyn McKeown/Gordonsville (Orange County) sent a shot over the fence in left center, bringing in Washington who drew a two-out walk a batter before.
