FARMVILLE, Va.-- Longwood University men’s tennis recorded a 5-2 win over Coastal Carolina, Thursday afternoon, improving to 5-5 on the year while Coastal Carolina moves to 13-7 overall.  The Lancers took two out of three doubles matches and won four of the six singles matches over the Chanticleers.  Longwood will take part in the Hampton Roads Collegiate this upcoming weekend which will take place in Virginia Beach.
    
In singles action Carlos Garcia de Andoain/Madrid, Spain (Liceo Sorolla ‘C’) defeated Coastal Carolina’s David Mellis 6-0, 7-6 at the number one spot.  David Cardoso/Porto, Portugal (Externato Lumen) took Simon Taylor to three sets, winning the first 7-6 falling in the second 6-7, but won the third set 6-3 for the win in the number two spot.  Rashko Patnikov/Bankya, Bulgaria (Smirnenski) fell to Richard Redding 6-4, 6-3, while Brandon Lindsley/Woodbridge (Woodbridge) defeated Elliott Quibell 6-4, 6-0 in the number four spot.  Mani Barajas-Alexander/Arlington (Bishop O’Connell) battled with Joseph Winthers to three sets, winning the first 7-6, falling 1-6 in the second and 0-6 in the third while Billy Heird/York, Pa. (Dallastown) rounded out singles action with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Andy Caress.
    
In doubles, Garcia de Andoain and Cardoso fell to Taylor/Caress 8-6 in the number one slot.  The teams of Heird/Lindsley and Patnikov/Barajas-Alexander recorded 8-6 and 9-7 wins in their respective matches.
