Softball Falls To Cleveland State 3-0 In Final Game Of Lancer Spring Classic

Pepper Wilson Recorded The Lancers' Lone Hit In The Contest

FARMVILLE, Va.-- Longwood softball finished the Lancer Spring Classic with a 2-1 record winning its first two match-ups, defeating Norfolk State 5-1 while handing Canisius College a 3-2 loss.  The Lancers fell in the final game to Cleveland State 3-0.  Longwood will return to action on Friday, March 2, when they host Howard for a 1 p.m. doubleheader match-up.

The Lancers struggled in the final game of the day to Cleveland State, only getting one hit in the seven inning affair.  CSU scored all three runs in the opening three innings, putting the Lancers behind 3-0 early.  Longwood’s lone hit came in the fourth inning as Pepper Wilson/Mechanicsville (Lee-Davis) hit an infield single to second base in the loss.  Ashley Forsyth/Freehold, N.J. (Freehold) recorded the loss pitching two innings  allowing six hits, and three runs, two of which were earned while striking out one.  Rachel Mills/Quinton (New Kent County) came in for relief in the third and allowed no runs on five hits while fanning two batters.
