Men's Tennis Gets Second Win Defeating Hampden-Sydney 7-0

Jon Bair Helped The Lancers Sweep Hampden-Sydney 7-0

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va.-- Longwood men’s tennis recorded its second consecutive win at Hampden-Sydney defeating the Tigers 7-0 Thursday afternoon. The Lancers improve to 2-1 on the year, while Hampden-Sydney moves to 1-1. Longwood will return to action on Saturday, March 6 when they travel to Howard for a 1 p.m. match.

David Cardoso/Porto, Portugal (Externato Lumen) bounced back from a 4-6 set one loss to defeat the Tigers’ William Moss in three sets, winning the next two 6-4 and 10-4 in the number one spot in singles. Brandon Lindsley/Woodbridge (Woodbridge) took control of his number two spot match, defeating Kenneth Holzapfel 6-1, 6-1 while Rashko Patnikov/Bankya, Bulgaria (Smirnenski) beat Hampden-Syndey’s James Labrot 6-2, 0-6. Billy Heird/York, Pa. (Dallastown), Austin Brawley/Virginia Beach (Frank W. Cox) and Jon Bair/Hutchinson, Kan. (Buhler) each won their respective matcher as Heird and Bair shut out their opponents 6-0, 6-0 and Brawley took 6-1 and 6-0 sets from Bruce Meyer.

In doubles, Lindsley/Heird beat Moss/Holzapfel 8-2 in the number one spot followed by a 8-1 win for Bair and Mani Barajas-Alexander/Arlington (Bishop O’Connell) over Jenks Snyder and Andrew McLeod in the number two spot. Brawley and Cardoso completed the sweep of doubles beating Labrot and Meyer 8-2.
