WILLIAMSBURG, Va.—Longwood men’s tennis was shut out in Saturday afternoon’s match with #75 William and Mary falling to the Tribe 7-0 in Williamsburg, Va. The Lancers were the Tribes’ fourth consecutive win as William and Mary improved to 6-5 on the season while Longwood fell to 0-1. Longwood will return action on Wednesday, February 28, as they travel to Richmond to take on the Spiders in a 2:30 p.m. match.
The Tribe took control from he start as Carlos Garcia de Andoain/Madrid, Spain (Liceo Sorolla 'C') fell to William and Mary’s Colin O’Brien in two sets, 1-6 2-6 while David Cardoso/Porto, Portugal (Externato Lumen) dropped to Marwan Ramadan 4-6, 1-6 in the number two spot. Bradon Lindsley/Woodbridge, Va. (Woodbridge) suffered a 3-6, 1-6 loss to Keziel Juneau while Rashko Patnikov/Bankya, Bulgaria (Smirnenski) and Billy Heird/York, Pa. (Dallastown) fell in their respective 0-6 and 2-6. Mani Barajas-Alexander/Arlington, Va. (Bishop O'Connell) wrapped up singles action, falling to Kavi Sud 4-6, 2-6.
In doubles Garcia de Andoain and Lindsley fell 2-8 to the team of Cojanu/Juneau in the number two spot while Cardoso/Heird and Jon Bair/Hutchinson, Kan. (Buhler)/Patnikov fell 6-8 in their respective matches.
