FARMVILLE, Va. -- ABC-TV’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition recently visited Rice, Virginia near Longwood University (Farmville, Va.) to construct a new home for the Lucas Family (Michael [37], Jean [33], Michael Henry [11], and Joseph Nathan [7]). Michael Lucas is currently serving in the National Guard oversees in Iraq. Less than a year ago, Michael and his family bought 3.7 acres of land in Prince Edward County near Rice. Unfortunately, before Michael could finish building a home for his family, he was deployed oversees to Iraq – that’s where Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Ken Broadwater Homes, LLC of Cartersville, Virginia entered the picture.

Following the new home construction, members of the Lancers’ softball team worked a four-hour shift on Dec. 9 to assist with the move-in of furniture to the new Lucas Family Home. Other Longwood Athletics administrators, coaches, and student-athletes volunteered services as well.
