EARLYSVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University competed at the Cavalier Open men’s cross country race hosted by the University of Virginia Saturday in Earlysville. UVA’s Kevin Tschirhart won the 8K race at the Panorama Farms in 24:41 as no team scoring was recorded at the event. The Lancers will compete again next Saturday, November 10, at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional hosted by Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
Longwood was led by senior D.J. Palmer/Chantilly (Chantilly) with his time of 27:21 to finish 30th among 48 runners. Palmer was followed by freshmen Daniel Cummings/Hampton (Ocean Lakes) (28:30, 42nd), Phil Kada/Arlington (Franklin) (28:46, 43rd), Tyler Copley/Chesapeake (Western Branch) (29:29, 45th), Dave Jeffers/Virginia Beach (Ocean Lakes) (29:45, 46th), and John Lapke/Virginia Beach (Cox) (30:27, 48th). Cummings and Kada each ran new season-best times for the 8K distance.
