Women's Cross Country Finishes 21st At 23rd ECAC Championships

Sophomore Jacquelyne Chantry Finishes 68th For Lancers - Runs 20:04

BRONX, N.Y. -- Longwood University women’s cross country totaled 500 points to finish 21st among 25 schools Saturday at the 23rd ECAC Cross Country Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, New York.  The University of New Hampshire won the prestigious event with its 68 team points, while Elizabeth Kennedy of Colgate won the 5K race in 18:14.  Longwood completed its season in New York.

Longwood was led by sophomore standout Jacquelyne Chantry/Williamsburg (Lafayette) with her time of 20:04 to finish 68th among 213 collegiate runners. Chantry was followed by classmate Kate Knupp/Edinburg (Central) (20:11, 79th), sophomore Laura Bland/Las Vegas, Nev. (Palo Verde) (20:49, 104th), freshman Natalie Auble/Fairfax (Fairfax) (20:59, 116th), and sophomore Melinda Lackore/Virginia Beach (First Colonial) (23:07, 194th).  Bland ran a new collegiate-best for the 5K (3.1-mile) distance.
