Men's Cross Country Finishes 2nd At Hagan Stone Park Classic

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Longwood University men’s cross country totaled 40 points to finish second among 12 teams Saturday at the Hagan Stone Park Classic in Greensboro, North Carolina. VCU placed first with 24 points, while Evans Kigen of NYIT was first individually with his time of 24:50. The Lancers were led by senior D.J. Palmer/Chantilly (Chantilly) with his time of 27:28 to finish 14th among 126 collegiate runners in the 8K race. Longwood will not compete again until November 10 at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional hosted by Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

In Greensboro, Palmer was followed by junior Evan Kearney/Richmond (Douglas Freeman) (27:50, 16th), senior Mark Anderson/Chesapeake (Western Branch) (28:11, 18th), sophomore Ross Roberts/Powhatan (Powhatan) (28:29, 24th), and freshman Tyler Copley/Chesapeake (Western Branch) (28:49, 33rd). Copley ran a new collegiate-best.

Also running for the Lancers were freshmen Daniel Cummings/Hampton (Ocean Lakes) (29:12, 38th), Dave Reed/Rocky Mount (Franklin) (29:15, 39th), and Phil Kada/Arlington (Franklin) (29:23, 41st).
