FARMVILLE, Va.-- Longwood University men’s soccer snapped its five game skid with a 3-0 win over Philadelphia Saturday afternoon at the Athletics Complex. Longwood improves to 4-8-2 overall and 2-2-0 in the conference, while the Rams fall to 2-11-2 on the season and 1-3-1 in Atlantic Soccer Conference play. The Lancers will return to action on Tuesday, October 30, when they travel to Lexington, Va. for a 4 p.m. contest with VMI.
The Lancers dominated play from the opening kick-off as the Longwood offense and midfield held the ball in the Rams’ defensive end. After chances by junior

Longwood continued to keep play in Philadelphia’s defensive end out of the break and padded its lead to two goals 12:22 into the second stanza. Freshman
Harvey Headley/Coventry, England (Stoke Park) finished a header from Diallo for his second goal of the year and the 2-0 lead with 33:38 left to go in the game. Senior
Sean Harney/Chesterfield (Lloyd C. Bird) tacked on a goal late in the game for his team leading fourth goal of the year.

Tyler Marsh/Mechanicsville (Atlee) preserved the shut out in the final 7:15 making one save. For Philadelphia, Ezra Cassell recorded the loss for the Rams, making seven saves while giving up two goals in 82:38 of action. Mike Wallover played the final 7:22 and allowed one goal. Longwood held a 19-6 advantage in shots and 9-1 advantage in corners kicks.
