NORFOLK, Va.-- Longwood University field hockey fell 4-0 to the #11 Duke Blue Devils Saturday afternoon in a neutral site match-up held at Old Dominion University. Lauren Suchoski led the way for the Blue Devils (8-6) scoring two goals to lift Duke over Longwood (5-11). The Lancers will return to action on Sunday, October 14, hosting #8 James Madison in a 1 p.m. match up at the Athletics Complex. The match-up will mark the first trip the Dukes have made to Longwood for field hockey.
Amie Survilla put the Blue Devils up 1-0 just 2:27 into the game converting on a penalty stroke for the early lead. Duke went up 2-0, 1:30 later as Suchoski notched her first goal of the game. Suckoski was able to put back a rebound off a penalty corner shot that was initial saved by senior keeper

The Blue Devils continued to pressure the Longwood defense and went ahead 3-0, 4:15 before halftime on a goal from Marian Dickinson.
In the second half, the Blue Devils tacked on a goal late in the game as Suckoski tallied her second goal of the game with 7:46 left on the clock. Longwood’s only shot of the game came off the stick of junior

Schmitz made six saves in the match-up while Duke’s Caitlin Williams tallied one save. The Blue Devils outshot Longwood 15-1, including 9-0 in the first half and recorded six penalty corners while Longwood was unable to record any.
