FAIRFAX, Va. -- Longwood University took a 6-0 season-ending women’s tennis victory at George Mason University Saturday in Fairfax. The Lancers finished their 2005-06 campaign with a final record of 9-9.

At George Mason, Longwood swept all six singles matches while the doubles contests were not played. Winning in singles were juniors Romana Bucur/Brasov, Romania (Joan Mesota) at #1 (6-0, 0-6, 6-2), sophomore Elena Triebskorn/Heddesheim, Germany (Carl-Benz Gymnasium) at #2 (1-6, 6-3, 6-0), freshman Ashley Melson/Virginia Beach (Kellam) at #3 (7-6 [4], 3-6, 6-2), junior Lexi Torrice/Richmond (Douglas Freeman) at #4 (6-1, 6-2), sophomore Brittany Huddleston/Roanoke (Cave Spring) at #5 (7-5, 6-2), and senior Jessica Farr/Williamsburg (Lafayette) at #6 (6-1, 6-1).
