Men's Tennis Defeats Howard 7-0

FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University took a 7-0 men’s tennis decision past visiting Howard University Saturday in Farmville.  The Lancers improved to 1-4 this season, and will play again on Sunday, March 5, hosting Hampden-Sydney College at the Lancer Courts in Farmville beginning at 1 p.m..
    
Against Howard, Longwood got wins in singles from freshman Carlos Garcia de Andoain/Madrid, Spain (Liceo Sorolla) at #1 (7-5, 6-3), junior Rashko Patnikov/Bankya, Bulgaria (Smirnenski) at #2 (6-1, 6-1), freshman Brandon Lindsley/Woodbridge (Woodbridge) at #3 (6-1, 6-2), sophomore Mani Barajas-Alexander/Arlington (Bishop O’Connell) at #4 (6-0, 7-5), freshman Austin Brawley/Virginia Beach (Frank W. Cox) at #5 (6-0, 6-1), and junior Jon Bair/Hutchinson, Kan. (Buhler) at #6 (6-2, 6-0).
    
In doubles, Garcia de Andoain and Lindsley won at #1 (8-6), as did Patnikov and Bair at #2 (8-5), along with Barajas-Alexander and senior Ian Young/Bowie, Md. (Eleanor Roosevelt) at #3 (8-0).
