FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University dropped a 5-2 men’s tennis decision to visiting Hampton University Thursday at the Lancer Courts in Farmville.  The Lancers are now 4-8 this season, while the Pirates improved to 7-8.  Longwood will play again on Friday, March 31, hosting Norfolk State University at the Lancer Courts in Farmville beginning at 2 p.m..
    
Against Hampton, Longwood got wins in singles from freshman Brandon Lindsley/Woodbridge (Woodbridge) at #3 (6-3, 6-3) and sophomore Mani Barajas-Alexander/Arlington (Bishop O’Connell) at #4 (6-1, 6-2), while juniors Rashko Patnikov/Bankya, Bulgaria (Smirnenski) and Jon Bair/Hutchinson, Kan. (Buhler) won at #2 doubles (8-2).
    
Also playing for the Lancers, and falling in singles were freshman Carlos Garcia de Andoain/Madrid, Spain (Liceo Sorolla) at #1 (6-3, 3-6, 7-10), Patnikov at #2 (4-6, 2-6), freshman Roger Torres/Bel Air, Md. (C.M. Wright) at #5 (4-6, 4-6), and senior Tobi Guennel/Plauen, Germany (Albert Einstein-Gymnasium) at #6 (3-6, 4-6).  In doubles, de Andoain and Lindsley lost at #1 (7-9), as did Barajas-Alexander and senior Ian Young/Bowie, Md. (Eleanor Roosevelt) at #3 (5-8).
