FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University men’s soccer freshman defender Martin Vickerton/ Derbyshire, England (Kirk Hallam Technical College) was named the Atlantic Soccer Conference’s (ASC) Rookie of the Week for his three point performance in the Lancer win over District of Columbia Saturday evening.  
    
The 5-11 defender got Longwood going 31 minutes into the game, cashing in on a free kick along the left side for the 1-0 lead.  Vickerton assisted on a goal later in the contest to pad Longwood’s lead to two goals, finding a wide open Sean Harney/Chesterfield (Lloyd C. Bird) in the middle of the field just outside the 18-yard box.  On the season Vickerton leads the team in points, recording six on two goals and two assists.

Vickerton and the Lancers will return to action on Tuesday, October 10, as they travel to Radford to take on the Highlanders for a 7 p.m. match-up.
