Women's Basketball Drops 85-29 Decision To 22nd Ranked Boston College

Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Longwood University dropped an 85-29 women’s basketball decision to Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) member Boston College, who is ranked 22nd in the latest association poll, this afternoon at the Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Mass. The loss drops the Lancers overall record to 6-13, while the Eagles improved their record to 13-6. Longwood was led by freshman center Anna Steg/Fairfax (George C. Marshall) who scored a team-high eight points, along with four rebounds and three steals. Longwood will be back in action on Wednesday, January 25 when they welcome Elon to Willett Hall. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.


Katherin Ress and Brooke Queenan of Boston College helped pace the Eagles to a 45-15 halftime lead, scoring 11 and 10 points respectively. BC finished the first half shooting an impressive 65.5% (19-29) from the field and held a 20-10 rebound advantage over Longwood.

Steg finished with six points for the Lancers in the first stanza, while senior guard Ashley Mason/Virginia Beach (Princess Anne) grabbed five rebounds.

Boston College continued its hot shooting in the second stanza, hitting 55.2% (16-29) of its attempts. Longwood played strong under the basket though as it grabbed 17 rebounds in the second half, including eight offensive boards. 

Besides Steg, Longwood was led by senior forward Amber Mason/Virginia Beach (Princess Anne) and Ashley Mason, who scored six and five points, respectively. The Lancers finished the game shooting 17.0% (9-53) from the field, including 11.1% (2-18) on three-pointers, and was 75.0% (9-12) from the charity stripe.

Boston College had three players finish with double-digit points, including Queenan who scored a game-high 18 points, and added five rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block. Ress added 17 points and eight rebounds, while Aja Parham chipped in 12 points.
