At Elon, Longwood led 1-0 at the intermission as junior Anna Gravely/Virginia Beach (Frank W. Cox) tallied her team-leading fourth goal of the season with an assist from freshman Brooke Brumby/Gaithersburg, Md. (Quince Orchard) at 9:21.

“We did exactly what we needed to do on the road to win by getting ahead early,” said 12th-year head coach Todd Dyer ‘93. “Unfortunately, we made some mental mistakes in the second half to allow Elon the opportunity to score a couple of goals.”
Elon took a 19-5 advantage in shots, and had a 9-1 edge in corner kicks. Junior keeper Heather Storrie/Spring Grove, Pa. (Spring Grove) played the first 57:28 in front of the net for the Lancers, yielding no goals while making four saves before getting a red card on a deny-goal foul.
