Sophomore Charlie Yarbrough/Richmond (Mills Godwin) (3-3, 2 RBI) collected three hits to lead Longwood, including a big two-out, two-run home run in the sixth to tie the contest. Yarbrough’s homer, his team-leading 12th home run this season, followed a two-out double from classmate Tyler Childress/Montclair (Forest Park) (1-4). The Lancers scored the winning run in the ninth when freshman Louis Ullrich/Centreville (Westfield) (1-3) reached base when hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a passed ball, moved to third on a ground-out, and crossed the plate on another passed ball. LU had scored its first run in the third when junior Corey Huemmer/Abingdon, Md. (Eastern Tech) (1-4) singled and later scored on a fielding error.

Freshman Sean Quinn/Mainesville, Ohio (St. Xavier) (1-0) picked-up his first collegiate pitching win in relief for Longwood with 2.0 late scoreless innings, yielding just one hit with one strikeout. Freshman John Farrell/Nantucket, Mass. (Nantucket) (1) earned his first collegiate save with the final 1.0 shutout inning with one strikeout.
