FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood University dropped a 5-2 women’s tennis decision to visiting James Madison University Saturday at the Lancer Courts in Farmville. The Lancers dropped to 7-8, while the Dukes improved to 7-1. Longwood will play again Sunday, April 10, hosting George Mason University of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) beginning at 1 p.m. at the Lancer Courts in Farmville.
Against JMU, also of the CAA, Longwood was swept in all three doubles matches but was able to win two singles contests. In singles, sophomore Romana Bucur/Brasov, Romania (Joan Mesota) won at #1 (6-1, 6-3), and classmate Lexi Torrice/Richmond (Douglas Freeman) won at #4 (6-3, 6-2).
