WASHINGTON, D.C. – Longwood University dropped a season-ending 4-3 women’s tennis decision at Georgetown University Saturday in Washington, D.C.. The Lancers completed their 2004-05 season with a final record of 9-9, while the Hoyas improved to 9-12.
At Georgetown, Longwood won two of three doubles matches for the team point, but only two of the six singles contests. In doubles, sophomores Romana Bucur/Brasov, Romania (Joan Mesota) and Lexi Torrice/Richmond (Douglas Freeman) won at #1 (8-6), as did freshmen Elena Triebskorn/Heddesheim, Germany (Carl-Benz-Gymnasium) and Brittany Huddleston/Roanoke (Cave Spring) at #2 (8-4).
In singles, the second-year standout Bucur won at #1 (6-1, 6-2), as did Torrice at #4 (7-5, 7-5).
