ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Longwood University dropped a 4-3 women’s tennis decision at UNC Asheville Sunday in North Carolina. The Lancers are now 2-5 this season and will play again Tuesday, March 8, hosting Shaw University beginning at 2 p.m. at the Lancer Courts in Farmville.
At UNC Asheville, Longwood garnered wins in singles from sophomore Romana Bucur/Brasov, Romania (Joan Mesota) at #1 (6-4, 6-4), freshman Elena Triebskorn/Heddesheim, Germany (Carl-Benz-Gymnasium) at #2 (4-6, 7-5, 6-3), along with sophomore Lexi Torrice/Richmond (Douglas Freeman) at #4 (6-1, 6-1). In doubles, sophomore Brittany Huddleston/Roanoke (Cave Spring) and Torrice won at #2 (8-5.
