Men's Soccer Opens Atlantic Soccer Conference Action With A 3-0 Loss At Hartwick

Sophomore Goalkeeper Brandt Youmans Makes Seven Saves In Setback

ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Longwood University dropped a 3-0 men’s soccer decision to Hartwick College this afternoon in its Atlantic Soccer Conference season-opener on Elmore Field in Oneonta, N.Y.. The Lancers fell to 2-7-1 overall and 0-1 in the ASC, while the Hawks improved their record to 6-3-1 overall and 1-0 in conference. Longwood will be back in action on Saturday, October 8 when they welcome Liberty to Lancer Field. Game time is slated for 6:00 p.m.

Hartwick and Longwood played nearly 70 minutes of scoreless soccer before the Hawks scored two goals in a span of less than two minutes to take the lead. John Paul Boyle, who scored both goals, notched the first goal at the 69:52 mark, with an assist going to Craig Potter. Boyle found the back of the net again at 71:16 on a cross driven in by Potter.

Chris Jackson added another insurance goal for Hartwick in the 88th minute. Jackson’s goal was assisted by Josh Wagenaar and David Lelli.
