Men's Soccer Drops 2-0 Decision To 14th Ranked N.C. State

Sophomore Goalkeeper Brandt Youmans Makes 12 Saves In Setback

RALEIGH, N.C --  Longwood University dropped a 2-0 men’s soccer decision at Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) member North Carolina State Wednesday evening in Raleigh, N.C. The Wolfpack, who are currently ranked 14th in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas National Poll, are the fifth team the Lancers have played this season that have been ranked in the Top-25. Longwood fell to 3-9-2 on the season, while N.C. State improved its record to 9-4-1. The Lancers will be back in action Saturday, October 22 when they play at Adelphi in an Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) match-up. Game time is slated for 12:00 p.m.

After a scoreless first half, the Wolfpack scored the eventual game-winner 11 minutes into the second stanza off a penalty kick. Bryant Salter of N.C. State took the penalty kick and was able to place a shot past sophomore goalkeeper Brandt Youmans/Gaithersburg, Md. (Damascus) for the lead. The Wolfpack added an insurance goal at the 80:37 mark when El Hadj Cissie hit a shot from the top of the 18-yard box that Youmans was unable to save. Aaron King and Ernesto Di Laudo both assisted on the goal    

N.C. State outshot the Lancers 21-4 and held the 6-3 edge in corner kick opportunities. Youmans made 12 saves in goal for the Lancers, while Jorge Gonzalez finished with two saves for the Wolfpack.
