National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas National Poll, are the fifth team the Lancers have played this season that have been ranked in the Top-25. Longwood fell to 3-9-2 on the season, while N.C. State improved its record to 9-4-1. The Lancers will be back in action Saturday, October 22 when they play at Adelphi in an Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) match-up. Game time is slated for 12:00 p.m.
After a scoreless first half, the Wolfpack scored the eventual game-winner 11 minutes into the second stanza off a penalty kick. Bryant Salter of N.C. State took the penalty kick and was able to place a shot past sophomore goalkeeper Brandt Youmans/Gaithersburg, Md. (Damascus) for the lead. The Wolfpack added an insurance goal at the 80:37 mark when El Hadj Cissie hit a shot from the top of the 18-yard box that Youmans was unable to save. Aaron King and Ernesto Di Laudo both assisted on the goal
N.C. State outshot the Lancers 21-4 and held the 6-3 edge in corner kick opportunities. Youmans made 12 saves in goal for the Lancers, while Jorge Gonzalez finished with two saves for the Wolfpack.
