HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Longwood University took a 5-2 men’s collegiate tennis victory at Bridgewater College Sunday. The Lancers record is now 4-4 and the team will play again March 26-28 in Wilson, North Carolina at the North-South Duels.
At NCAA Division III Bridgewater, Longwood won four of six singles and all three doubles matches -- the doubles worth one team point. In singles, junior Chris Newman/Chesapeake (Hickory) won at #1, as did at freshman Rashko Patnikov/Bankya, Bulgaria (Smirnenski) #2, sophomores Ian Young/Bowie, Md. (Eleanor Roosevelt) at #3 and Justin Dorsk/Virginia Beach (Kempsville) at #5. In doubles, Newman and sophomore Diego Quiros/Quesada, Costa Rica (Maria Inmaculada) won at #1, as did Patnikov and senior Garrett Green/Fredericksburg (Stafford) at #2, along with Young and Dorsk at #3.
