CONVERSE, S.C. – Junior Catherine Dunn/Aberdeen, N.J. (St. John Vianney) recorded her first double-double in a Lancer uniform to help Longwood defeat tournament host Converse (S.C.) 74-48 Friday night in South Carolina.  Dunn finished the contest with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while dishing out four assists.  With the win, Longwood extends its win streak to six-straight and improves its record to 17-8 overall, while the All-Stars drop to 1-24 on the season.

Head Coach Shirley Duncan’s squad will return to action tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m. as they take on Pittsburgh-Johnstown for the final game of the 2003-04 campaign.  The Lancers faced Pitt.-Johnstown earlier this season at the C&L/Lancer Invitational, with the Cats claiming the 74-59 win in Lancer Hall.

At Converse, Longwood outscored the host school 34-15 in the opening period, sparked by 10 first half points from senior Ebony Smith/Palmyra (Fluvanna Co.).  The Lancers continued to add to their lead in the second session as three Lancers finished the outing with double-digits.  In addition to Dunn’s 11 points, Smith closed out the contest with 14 points, while sophomore Ashley Mason/Virginia Beach (Princess Anne) contributed 10 points to help Longwood secure the road win.

Longwood also fought hard on the boards, doubling Converse’s rebounding total 61-30.   Dunn and sophomore Amber Mason/Virginia Beach (Princess Anne) combined for 22 of the team’s season-high 61 rebounds, pulling down 10 and 12, respectively.  Smith and Ashley Mason also registered nine boards apiece.  The Lancers shot 34.5 percent (30-87) from the floor, including 22.7 (5-22) from three-point territory and 75.0 (9-12) at the foul line.

Melissa Ballard and Melissa Bunce led Converse with 13 points each, while Brandi Criscitiello grabbed 10 rebounds.  The All-Stars shot 35.4 percent (17-48) from the floor, 30.8 percent (4-13) from beyond the arc, and 71.4 percent (10-14) at the line.
