FARMVILLE, Va.  -- Darnell Carroll booted in two goals in the first  10 minutes of play for Gardner-Webb, sending the Bulldogs on top of Longwood University tonight 2-0 at Lancer Field.  After the loss, the Lancers fall to 3-7 and the Bulldogs jump to 4-2.  Longwood returns to action this weekend, facing Radford on Saturday at 7 p.m..

Carroll first put Gardner-Webb on the board at the 3:34 mark off of a corner from Brian Wentzel and cross from Sergio Lozano.  Carroll's second goal came less than five minutes later when he booted the ball into the ball of the cage from the top of the box.

Longwood came out strong in the second half, putting on the pressure with a solid defensive performance led by Oliver Denal (Denmark/Lyngby Handelsskolen), Chris Miller (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) and Dana Shaffer (Norfolk, Va./Maury)  and only allowed Gardner-Webb three shots.  Despite 11 attempts in the final period, the Lancers couldn't convert their shots and were left scoreless against the Bulldogs.
