Tiffany Crane, April Lockley Earn Division I Independent All-Academic Team Honors

FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University student-athletes Tiffany Crane/Virginia Beach (Kellam) and April Lockley/California, Md. (Leonardtown) have been named to the 2004 Division I Independent Women’s Soccer All-Academic Team. This academic team was selected by the sports information directors at the member institutions.

Crane, a sophomore midfielder, started 14 of 18 matches this season for Longwood while posting one goal and a team-best five assists for seven points (second on team). She totals seven goals and 10 assists for 24 points during her two-year career with the program. Crane is majoring in chemistry and has attained a 3.32 GPA at the University.

Lockley, a junior forward, started 12 of 17 matches this season for the Lancers while posting two goals and one assist for five points (fourth on team). She has scored seven goals and seven assists for 21 points during her three-year career with the program. Lockley is majoring in psychology and has attained a 3.66 GPA at the institution.

To be eligible for consideration to the Division I Independent All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must carry a GPA of 3.2 or higher (on a 4.0 scale), must have reached at least a sophomore athletic standing, and be a starter or key reserve on the team.

Longwood finished the recent campaign with a final record of 5-13, including two consecutive wins to close-out the year, and four wins over the final seven contests. The Lancers were competing in their first season under full NCAA Division I rules and regulations, and played 17 Division I opponents this fall.
