PEMBROKE, N.C. -- Longwood University was handed its second shutout of the season this afternoon as the Lancers were taken down by the Braves 5-0 at the Irwin Belk Soccer Complex. Longwood drops to 2-3 on the season, while UNCP improves to 3-0. The Lancers are on the road Friday battling NCAA Division I the College William & Mary Tribe at 4:30 p.m.
At Pembroke, the Braves jumped on the board 13 minutes into the contest and did not let up, as three goals were scored against the Lancers in the first half and two in the second. Longwood freshman goalkeeper Justin Brock (Richmond, Va./Mills E. Godwin) grabbed seven saves in 90 minutes for the Lancers. Senior forward Mark Connelly (Warrenton, Va./Fauquier) led Longwood with four shots, followed by Adonis Stowers (Hampton, Va./Phoebus) with two.
