Women's Soccer Falls At Division I Howard 3-2 In Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Longwood University dropped a 3-2 women’s collegiate soccer decision at NCAA Division I Howard University Thursday night in Washington, D.C.. The Division II Lancers record is now 8-6-1, while the Bison improved to 3-10-0.

At Howard, Longwood sophomore April Lockley/California, Md. (Leonardtown) scored the first goal of the match at 9:23 off an assist from freshman Kelsie Bradberry/Richmond (Monacan). The Bison knotted the match at 1-1 with a goal just before the intermission (0:09) from Erinn Garner, assisted by Samantha Romantini. The Lancers battled back in front 2-1 when sophomore Tiffany Rice/Virginia Beach (Kellam) tallied a goal at 55:51, assisted by Lockley. Howard tied the contest again at 2-2 with a goal from Kamilah Bywaters at 62:44. The hosts scored the game-winner at 72:40 when Garner scored her second goal of the match, assisted by Sakira Cook.

Howard took a 15-8 advantage in shots against the Lancers, though each team had six corner-kick opportunities. Longwood junior keeper Lindsay Naill/Alexandria (Bishop Ireton) played the entire match in front of the net with five saves. Howard split time in front of the net between Lindsey Watson (25 minutes) and Angel Ughiovhe (65 minutes).

Longwood will play again Sunday, Oct. 26, hosting Division I Virginia Military Institute at 5 p.m. on Lancer Field during Senior Day.
