BOX SCORE

BANNER ELK, N.C. -- The Longwood University men’s soccer fought threw an extremely physical match and grabbed a 3-2 win over Lees-McRae at the Dickerson Athletic Complex tonight.  The victory marks the Lancers’ second-straight win as they improve to 5-8, while the Bobcats fall to 8-5.

Sophomore midfielder Tony Soules (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) gave Longwood a 1-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of action.  Twenty minutes later, Soules found the back of the net again making the score 2-0 going into the break.

Lees-McRae scored less than a minute into the second period on a penalty kick. The Bobcats would score again, but it wasn’t enough as Lancer freshman forward Henrik Agerskov (Denmark/Rungsted Gymnasium) sealed the victory, scoring off a cross from senior midfielder Shawn Spilman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) from the far right side.

Freshman goalkeeper Justin Brock (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto)  played an active role in Longwood’s win, deflecting two goals from Lees-McRae to keep the Lancers ahead.

Longwood returns to Lancer Field on Saturday to face Division I High Point at 7:00 p.m..
