Tim White (Men’s Golf, 1978-82) is among the most accomplished golfers in Longwood history and is the first Hall of Fame inductee from the men's golf program. Over a four-year career from 1978-82, he posted a school-record scoring average of 75.93 that stood for two decades until 2002. He also set Longwood's single-round record, carding an 18-hole 67 against Washington & Lee and Ferrum on Longwood's home course on April 20, 1979, which stood as the best in program history until 2003.
A GCAA Division III All-American in 1980, White qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship in 1980 and tied for 16th at the event, earning GCAA All-America third team honors. He logged a 72-76-74-74—296 at the national championship, which was a 72-hole record that still stands as the lowest four-round total in program history. White also medaled at the Virginia Tech Invitational that same year, becoming Longwood's first multi-round medalist in program history.
White's accolades at Longwood marked the beginning of decades’ worth of success on the links. He went on to compete professionally in Middle Atlantic PGA events, winning the Middle Atlantic PGA Championship in 1998, 2006 and 2009, the Middle Atlantic PGA Senior Championship in 2009 and 2010, and the Middle Atlantic PGA Senior Match-Play Championship in 2010. He was most recently named the Middle Atlantic PGA Senior of the Year in 2010 after placing tied for 21st at the Senior PGA Professional National Championships.
