FARMVILLE, Va. – The Longwood University men's and women's tennis teams have partnered with the Longwood club tennis team to host a charity event on Saturday, October 6 at the Lancer Courts beginning at 3:30 p.m., in an effort to raise money for the local Habitat for Humanity.
“It's always nice when you can host an event such as this one,” said head coach
Jakob Gustafsson. “Habitat for Humanity is a great cause and I hope we can get a lot of people involved in the process. I'm happy we have the opportunity to connect with the club tennis team and work together towards a common goal. I look forward to having a lot of fun on Saturday, and I'm proud that our students have the privilege to partake in an event that can literally change lives.”
The event will feature seven mixed doubles teams from the varsity squads and one 'Super Team' made up of Gustafsson and assistant coach Tobias Fanselow. The club team has collected pledges for donations based on every game they can win against the varsity teams of student-athletes and coaches. All donations will be made to the Farmville chapter of the Habitat for Humanity.
