FARMVILLE, Va. -- The Longwood University men's golf team has been recognized as a recipient of the 2010 All-Academic Team Award by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The Lancers are one of 64 Division I teams recognized for their team grade point average above 3.0 this past academic year. DePaul University (3.66) took the top GCAA Division I honor, while nine other DI programs attained a 3.5 or better team GPA for the past year.
The members of the team include graduated
Adam Webb|Ridgeway, current seniors
Jed Rasnick|Roanoke (Lord Botetourt) and
Michael Young|Oakville, Ontario (Trafalgar), along with juniors
Bobby Fox|South Riding, Va. (Xavier, Conn.),
Austin Gray|Midlothian (Monacan),
Kenny Leech|Boca Raton, Fla. (Grandview Prep), and
Ross Sumner|Callao (Northumberland). The Lancers posted a 3.05 team GPA for the year, including a 3.20 for the spring semester.
Longwood completed its 2009-10 season with a team scoring average of 299.6 while winning one tournament among its eight top 10 team finishes in 11 tournament competitions with a runners-up finish as well. The Lancers return six lettermen and have added two newcomers for the upcoming 2010-11 campaign which begins September 13-14 at home with the 54-hole Manor Intercollegiate at The Manor Resort Golf Club.
