FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University women's tennis team defeated Seattle University 4-1 on Saturday afternoon on Lancer Courts in Farmville. The Lancers swept the doubles matches and won three of the first four singles matches. Longwood (11-8) wraps up its season Sunday, April 18, when it hosts North Carolina Central University at 8:30 a.m. and Winston-Salem State University at 1 p.m. on Lancer Courts in Farmville.

In singles action, senior Laura Simon/Barcelona, Spain (IES Lluis de Peguera) won at #1 (6-1, 6-2), freshman Marta Pinyol/Barcelona, Spain (IESM Ferran Tallada) was victorious at #3 (6-4, 3-6, 6-1) and senior Mason Davis/Richmond (Collegiate School) won at #4 (6-1, 3-6, 6-1). Junior Zsofia Jakab/Minusio, Switzerland (Lices Cantonale Locarns) lost at #2 (1-6, 3-6). Freshman Allison Shulman/Richmond (Deep Run) was unfinished at #5 (7-6(5), 4-6, 4-4) and freshman Hannah Hill/Portsmouth (Western Branch) did not finish at #6 (4-6, 3-1).

In doubles competition, Pinyol and Jakab won at #1 (9-8(4)), Davis and Shulman were victorious at #2 (8-4) and Hill and Simon won at #3 (8-6).
