FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University took a 7-0 women's tennis decision past visiting Winston-Salem State University Sunday afternoon at the Lancer Courts in Farmville. The Lancers were led by senior
Eileen Sullivan/Toano (Nansemond Suffolk Academy) who earned wins at #6 singles (6-1, 6-0) and at #3 doubles (8-1) along with sophomore
Nasim Moadab/Colonial Heights (Colonial Heights) who also won at #5 singles (6-1, 6-0). Longwood will play again on Saturday, February 28, hosting North Carolina A&T of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference at the Lancer Courts in Farmville beginning at 1 p.m..
Longwood swept all six singles matches, and all three doubles matches against W-SSU. Earning wins for the Lancers in singles, in addition to Sullivan and Moadab, were junior
Laura Simon/Barcelona, Spain (IES Lluis de Peguera) at #1 (6-1, 6-2), sophomore
Zsofia Jakab/Minusio, Switzerland (Lices Cantonale Locarns) at #2 (6-1, 6-1), freshman
Jackie Esguerra/Sauk City, Wis. (Prairie du Sac) at #3 (6-1, 6-2), and senior
Ashley Melson/Virginia Beach (Kellam) at #4 (6-0, 6-2). In doubles, winning besides Sullivan and Moadab were Simon and Jakab at #1 (8-7 [3]) along with Melson and Esguerra at #2 (8-2).
