Longwood Places Six Players On All-ASC Teams

FARMVILLE, Va. - Longwood University had six student-athletes honored by the Atlantic Soccer Conference on Thursday night at the ASC Awards Banquet in Farmville. Junior forward Harvey Headley/Coventry, England (Stoke Park) and senior midfielder Brian Germain/McLean (Langley) earned First-Team All-ASC honors after a vote by the league's head coaches. Senior Martin Vickerton/Derbyshire, England (Kirk Hallam CTC) and freshman Patrick McDaniel/Midlothian (Cosby) were named to the second team. Sophomores Shane Johnson/Ashburn (Broad Run) and Zack Mahon/San Antonio, Texas (William Howard Taft) earned a spot on the ASC All-Academic team. Longwood returns to action on Friday, November 13, when it plays Houston Baptist in the ASC Tournament semifinals at 6 p.m. at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. Headley led Longwood and was second in the league with six goals on the season. He scored a goal in four straight matches, including wins over UMBC and Howard. He added two assists for 14 total points. Headley attempted 36 shots with 13 shots on goal.

Germain scored three goals with three assists for nine points. He scored in back-to-back wins over UMBC and Howard, adding one assist in the Howard match. He finished the season with 23 shots with 11 shots on goal.

Vickerton earned second-team honors for the second straight year after posting two goals with one assist in 18 starts. He scored his first goal of the season against Howard, a goal that would prove to be the game-winner. He attempted 29 shots with 11 shots on goal.

McDaniel was one of five freshman to earn a spot on the second team. He finished the season with one goal, the game winner against the University of Richmond. He attempted five shots with two on goal.

Johnson and Mahon earned a spot on the ASC All-Academic team after maintaining a 3.2 grade point average and also participating in at least half of Longwood's matches. Johnson, a sophomore majoring in business administration, had one assist on the season. Mahon, also a sophomore business administration major, has one assist on the year.
