WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Longwood University Men’s tennis swept Winston-Salem State 7-0 on Friday evening in Winston-Salem, N.C., to improve to 6-7 on the season. The Lancers were led by junior Carlos Garcia de Andoain/Madrid, Spain (Liceo Sorolla ‘C’) who defeated Brian Coxton 6-1, 6-1 from the #1 spot. Longwood returns to the courts on March 29 as they take on James Madison at 1 p.m. in Harrisonburg, Va.

Junior Brandon Lindsley/Woodbridge (Woodbridge) picked up a singles victory from the #2 spot, defeating Mazimilian Glodde 6-1, 6-3. Also winning in singles was sophomore David Cardoso/Porto, Portugal (Externato Lumen) from the #3 spot (6-0, 6-0), while classmate Billy Heird/York, Pa. (Dallastown) defeated Troy Moore 6-0, 6-0 at the #4. Junior Austin Brawley/Virginia Beach (Frank W. Cox) picked up a victory from the #5 spot (6-1, 6-0), while sophomore Andres Lazarte/Vienna (San Miguel) won at the #6 (6-0, 6-0).

The Lancers were just as successful in doubles, winning all three spots. Heird/Cardoso picked up the win from the #1 spot, taking the match 8-4. At the #2 Lazarte/Lindsley won 8-5, while Garcia and Mani Barajas-Alexander/Arlington (Bishop O’Connell) won at the #3 (8-0).
