PHILADELPHIA, Penn. - Two members of the Longwood University women's tennis team participated in the 2008 Wilson/ITA Championship hosted by the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, October 25. Junior Laura Simon/Manresa, Spain (IES Lluis de Peguera) participated in singles, while teaming up with sophomore Zsofia Jakab/Minusio, Switzerland (Lices Cantonale Locarns) in doubles. Longwood returns to the courts on Friday, October 31 for the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg.
  
Simon battled hard in the first round of her singles match, but was unable to get the better of Petra Santini from Boston University. Simon fell in straight sets 0-6, 2-6.
   
Things didn't get any easier in doubles as Simon and Jakab fell to Stefanie Nunic/Francine Whu of Boston University. The duo fell 3-8.
