Softball Drops 4-2 Decision To Emporia State

Junior Megan Camden Went 3-for-4 Against The Hornets

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Longwood University dropped a 4-2 collegiate softball decision to Emporia State Thursday afternoon, during the Alamo Classic hosted by Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas.  With the loss, the Lancers drop to 14-9 on the season, while the Hornets improve to 18-6 overall.  Longwood is scheduled to play again later this evening, as the Lancers take on Oklahoma Panhandle at 9 p.m. 

Against Emporia State, Longwood scored the first two runs of the ballgame in the second inning and maintained its 2-0 advantage until the fourth frame, where the Hornets notched three runs off two home runs.  Emporia State added another run in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach for the Lancers. 

Junior Megan Camden/Bedford (Liberty) led the offensive attack, getting two hits in three appearances at the plate, including a run scored.  Sophomore Mallory Gordon/Powhatan (Powhatan) aided the effort, going 1-for-2 with the Lancers only two RBI.  Freshman Abbey Welch/LaPlata, Md. (McDonough) (7-4) took the loss after going the distance on the mound.
