Softball Falls To California Baptist 3-2

Sophomore Mallory Gordon Went 2-3 Against Cal.-Baptist

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Longwood University dropped a 3-2 collegiate softball decision to California Baptist Friday afternoon at the Las Vegas Classic in Nevada. With the loss, the Lancers fall to 0-3 on the season, while Cal.-Baptist improves its record to 3-2.

Against California Baptist, Longwood fell behind 3-0 after three innings of competition and was never able to recover from the deficit despite posting a run in the fifth and sixth innings. Sophomore Mallory Gordon/Powhatan (Powhatan County) paced the Lancers with her 2-3 performance at the plate, including a double and an RBI, while senior Heather Williams/Brookneal (Appomattox County) and sophomore Shamana Washington/Rhoadesville (Orange County) each went 1-3. Freshman pitcher Abbey Welch/LaPlata, Md. (McDonough) (0-2) took the loss on the mound.
