BOX SCORE
LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- Longwood dropped its second game of the Las Vegas Classic Thursday afternoon, falling to Montana State-Billings 2-1. The Lancers finish the day 0-2 and are scheduled to return to action Friday as they take on California Baptist and PIttsburg State.
Against Montana State-Billings (1-1), Longwood again fell behind early (1-0), but quickly answered with a run of its own in the third to even the score at 1-1. However, the Yellowjackets proved to be too much for the Lancers, getting the game-winning run in the sixth inning to claim the win. Senior Heather Williams/Brookneal (Appomattox County) and Steele each registered a hit for the Lancers, while freshman Abbey Welch/LaPlata, Md. (McDonough) (0-1) took the loss in her mound debut.
Following Friday’s action, the Lancers are scheduled to return to play Saturday as they take on Barry (Fla.) at 5 p.m. before facing Hawaii-Hilo at 9 p.m. (eastern time).
